Cruise 254 in the “Sonne” vessel. South pacific (2017).

Moin! I’m a biological technical assistant. Since my childhood I have been interested in nature and ecosystems with all the animals and plants living in them.  I started my career as a zookeeper in the bird park of Walsrode (Germany). During my time as a zookeeper, I realised that there must be more than large animals: Microorganisms.

After my training as a biological technical assistant, in 2010, I got the opportunity to be a part of the CRC TRR51_Roseobacter in oceanography at the ICBM Oldenburg. For the last 13 years, I have learned a lot and expanded my experience during lab work, different excursions, and experiments with methods like flowcytometry.

I’m very happy to support the scientists to uncover the mysteries small marine organisms and their effect in the environment.
