B.Sc. Biology, Philipps-Universität Marburg

Ever since I can remember, I have loved animals and nature. This led me to study biology after finishing school, with the goal of becoming a zoologist and studying animals in the furthest corners of the world. However, during my bachelor’s degree, I discovered my passion for microbiology. How can something so small have such a massive influence on the world, including our own lives? I was fascinated and specialised in microbiology, writing my bachelor’s thesis on the life cycles and motility of Myxococcus xanthus.
After completing my bachelor’s degree, I had to put my studies on hold for several years. However, my fascination with the microbial world never faded, and now I am finally back, uncovering its secrets during my master’s degree.
I am currently working on my first research project as part of a marine mesocosm experiment, investigating how microbial interactions, B-vitamin cycling, and phage dynamics influence the composition and succession of microbial communities.
Outside of my studies, I enjoy getting lost in a good book, hiking, or working on a new sewing project.
