After several years of working in medical labs, I got the opportunity to be involved in a research project back in Iran. This experience motivated me to pursue a Master’s degree.

I enrolled as an MS student at the University of Oldenburg because I was excited about the modern curricula focused on omics strategies. Here, I learned that microorganisms in the environment, especially, are often overlooked. The overwhelming complexity of microbial communities, with all the benefits they bring to planet Earth, is a topic I am fascinated by.

My research interest lies in the boundary between cultivating microorganisms and analyzing those that cannot be cultivated yet, using computational and diverse molecular tools. Currently, I am working on my thesis using metagenomics to investigate the composition and functional potential of microbial communities.
