I am delving into the less-explored world of Pelagibacterales, particularly those inhabiting the sea surface microlayer (SML). My current focus is on getting acquainted with new members of the elusive microbial group of SAR11 clade. Working on the microbial communities of the North Sea is an exciting chapter in my journey, but it wasn’t my first step. I began my academic path in my hometown, studying cellular and molecular biology with a focus on microbiology. Although I initially had doubts, a career test confirmed that I was on the right track to becoming a microbiologist (I’m not sure how good of one yet, but STILL! 😊). Now, I’m continuing my journey here, and there’s no time more enjoyable or fulfilling than when I’m in the lab, learning alongside the amazing Pelagic Microbiology research group.
I am a dreamer with big ambitions for my career, but I’ve learned to cherish the process of learning along the way. This has made me both eager and patient. In my free time, I immerse myself in art in all its forms, which is my main source of relaxation and inspiration.
